This is Michael Walker of Ampleforth College, Durham University, Ebury Court Hotel and London, which might shift a few memories somewhere. I shall be using this "blog" to promote my writing and hopefully make contact with some old acquaintances with whom I lost contact along the line of my life.
This is my first ever "blog" and it has cost me some trouble to even manage to heave several poems on board. Nevertheless, here I am. I shall be using this first time "blog" (why does the Internet encourage such ugly names and acronyms?) principally to promote my writing. It is hard to say what the future of creative writing will be. I doubt very much that traditional publishing can continue as the arbiter of worth in its quasi-"Thatcherite" majesty. Things will not stay as they were for hundreds of years gone by. In all events, I shall be getting my poetry here and when (or should that be "if"?) I become more proficient, perhaps a short story or two. I shall be pleased if to start with I can even get these texts uploaded! Constructive comments and encouragement are welcome.
Many of my poems are not available here, where they are only published by their title. I am not publishing them here in my poetry blog because I want to improve their chances of being published in a poetry magazine. Many publications regard the appearance of a poem on a private blog as "previously published" which disqualifies the poem in question from publication in a paper print magazine. Most of the poems which appear on this blog are those poems which have already been published somewhere else or which are wallflowers too delicate to be presented to magazines.
Since last writing that, I have become a little tired of poetry magazines, most of which seem to be in the hands of the same people as those who march through London demanding a second EU referendum! Most of my poems are back up here again.
Here are the links to two plays which I have published.
